Abstract

In 40 years of Hemingway’s literary career, the ecological ethics contained in his works presents an obvious deductive path, which is faintly discernible from being narrow to being all-embracing. From enjoying bullfighting as entertainment in a brutal way to wandering around nature hunting, plundering and conquering the forest and grassland which represent the green ecology, to fishing in deep sea, expressing respect for marine creatures representing blue ecology, a series of works of Hemingway reflect the change in the writer’s ecological ethics from anthropocentrism to non-anthropocentrism. The deduction of the ecological ethics in Hemingway's works clearly shows that the western humanistic spirit adjusts the way of perception and attitude towards nature; meanwhile, it shows the adjustment path of the relationship between literature and nature, indicating tolerance and acceptance of oriental culture by occidental culture.
