Abstract
Most of Our Roads become of mixed traffic consisting of high, low and slow speed vehicles and the traffic capacities are usually governed with the slow speed vehicles. So, we suppose an ideal road without any traffic resistances when high speed vehicle overtakes low speed one, then we can calculate the frequencies of overtakings occured on the mixed traffic road. But numbers of overtaking to be done on real road are far less than that of the ideal road being origined to the traffic volumes on the opposite lane, probabilities of overtaking owing to the speed differences and effects for ovetaking due to physical properties of the road.Now, we here propose a new constant saying Line. Constant indicating the value of overtaking character of route, and show one of methods of computing this constant by means of observation of speeds, traffic volumes and numbers of overtaking to be done by driving an experimental vehicle and then describe the comprehensive significations and some applications of this constant.
