Abstract

The character of the incommensurate modulation is discussed for the structures with the incommensurate modulation vector k approaching the vector b /3 ( b is the reciprocal lattice vector), i.e., near the lock-in transitions, when k = b /3 + s, with s tending to zero. It is shown that such IC wave can induce second and third order modulation harmonics with amplitudes larger than that of the first harmonic.
