Abstract

The present study contains numerical evaluations of the macroscopic bulk modulus of materials containing spherical particles. The effects of load, volume fraction of particles, and material properties of the constituents with particular emphasis on the effect of plasticity on the bulk modulus are explored. It is shown that the bulk modulus of such composites is often load dependent.
