Abstract

In this paper we apply the Veneziano model to the calculations of the elec tromagnetic mass differences of n and K mesons. Previously we calculated the n-p electromagnetic mass difference by assuming the finite energy sum rule and the pole approximation for low energy and the Regge pole approximation for high energy region. At that time we neglected the intermediate region. 3 ) If we use the Veneziano model, the intermediate region can properly be taken into account. Therefore we think it is an interesting task to ~alculate electromagnetic mass differences of 7r and K mesons by use of the Veneziano model. In addi tion to this model, the main assumptions underlying the calculations of the mass difference are described in the following. (I) off-shell effect In calculations of the mass differences we must integrate the off-shell space
