Abstract
Computer graphics provides a user-oriented communication link to a computer and relational data bases provide a convenient way for users to view large data organizations. Potentially the combination of graphics and relational data bases is very promising. This paper describes how relational data bases can be used in graphics applications and how user functions can be constructed in terms of operations on relations. For application development, it is shown that the use of relational data bases simplifies the handling of data but with some loss of machine efficiency. Example structures are presented.
