Abstract

The applicability of Pierotti's theory for the solubility of gases in liquids is investigated by means of literature data for the case where one of the components is very polar. It appears that the values of the energy parameter ɛ2/k of the solutes that follow from this theory depend on the chemical nature of the solvent. Several cases of complex formation between solute and solvent have been detected.
