Abstract

Apparent thermal conductivities of packed silica balloon were measured at liquid nitrogen temperature in nitrogen gas at 1 atm. The experimental data of silica balloons were compared with the data of commercial perlite powders. It was found that the apparent thermal conductivities of silica balloon were nearly equal to that of perlite.
