Abstract

Although we have developed a thermal insulation made of aerogel since 2012, the contribution of the thermal conduction of our newly developing thermal insulation (NDI) was larger than the conventional insulation. This paper examines the influence of an additive rate of each sub-material on the apparent thermal conductivity. As a result, although the content and length of the fiber hardly influence on the apparent conductivity, the mechanical strength becomes high according to the increase in the content and the length of the fiber. However, because the kneading time of the insulation slurry becomes long according to the increase in the fiber length, the fiber of 12mm is not suitable from the viewpoint of the manufacturing cost. Because the additive rate of the binder affects the apparent thermal conductivity, the binder should be adjusted to the lowest amount to keep the moldability of the insulation.
