Abstract

The properties of theT-matrices for general fermion equations are analysed with respect to the auxiliary-spin content. Equations are derived for the submatrices interconnecting the different spin components, in a basis in which the generators ofSU 2 are fully reduced. The family of equations in which the physical spins is not also an auxiliary spin is pointed out as being particularly simple. Theorems are proved, concerning this family: they can involve only spins smaller thans; there is only one auxiliary spin, if and only ifs= 3/2; when the Harish-Chandra degree is four,s = 3/2.
