Abstract
Abstract The condition for experimental observation of effects of phonon localization in nearly one-dimensional dielectric solids are investigated. While there seems to be no observable effect in thin wires, phonon localization can lead to a minimum in the thermal diffusivity curve DT(T) of solids with a chain-like structure and weak inter-chain molecular forces.
