Abstract
This paper presents a new tool for on line thermal and pumping plant production cost monitoring recently developed in the Energy Management System at the ENEL National Control Centre in Rome, Italy. Instantaneous production and marginal costs are computed at unit level by means of the active power telemeasurements received at NCC from power plants and data about cost curves and fuels actually used. Such data are further processed in order to obtain global data at area level. Computation methods, plant models and adopted criteria are described. Operational experience during more than 2 years of use, and tool applications in both on line control and off line analysis are discussed.
