Abstract

The effects of dispersive and non-dispersive intracavity narrowline losses on the dye laser spectrum are experimentally compared. The absence of self frequency-locking close to non-dispersive losses suggests that mode coupling alone is insufficient for a general interpretation of the locking effect.
