Abstract

The microscopic fluctuations of mass and momentum densities are used as Mori variables in a generalized Langevin scheme. The random force-force correlation function is calculated, at very short times, for a classical many-body system. Though restricted to short times, our result is rigorous and new. The autocorrelation function for the random force is shown to be spatially non-local and biased by the presence of an external field.
