Abstract
Eisei-jiko Soan was the distinctive draft in drafts of building ordinance in 1890s for the City of Tokyo, which proposed many provisions from a hygienic point of view. Among them there were advanced provisions such as a zonal ratio of open space for newly developed district and a standard of setback distance of wall with opening from boundary line. They suggested the introduction of zonal ordinance or special ordinance for suburban area, which were resembled to German ordinances.
