Abstract

1. There is a variety of procedure in the hourly measurements of curves and in the derivation of the regular diurnal variation, and it seems desirable to call attention to the consequent effects on the results deduced. At some stations use is made of instantaneous values measured at the hour. At other stations mean values are taken for 60‐minute intervals. These intervals may centre at the hour, or they may begin at the hour.
