Abstract
In the last years, several new Internet service models have been consolidated due to the innovative business vision introduced by the 5G verticals. This scenario, designed to support diverse application requirements with very stringent quality constraints, demands the rapid development of new management and orchestration strategies which the main goal is to accomplish end‐to‐end service delivery. One of the main advancements in the 5G development is the network slicing concept, which seeks to maximize its capabilities by offering network service and resource abstraction over several different physical networks, thus improving end‐to‐end service delivery flexibly. Our previous work introduces an edge‐cloud‐supported monitoring approach (EDCS) to cope with current demands in slicing resource monitoring. This paper extends the previous study with a detailed operational description of the proposed EDCS solution, highlighting how it can be deployed to operationalize slicing monitoring in cloud‐network slicing scenarios.
