Abstract

AbstractThis paper is emphasizing on the cost of crossbar interconnection networks. Crossbar interconnection network plays a vital role in parallel computing applications. Although it is very good in performance, however, cost is one of the biggest issues with these networks. Therefore, authors have focused on the cost of crossbar networks and proposed a new crossbar network. The structure of the proposed network shows that it is less costly as compared to traditional crossbar network. Further, fault tolerability is also taken into consideration while designing the new crossbar network. Results section indicates that the proposed networks can be opted in place of traditional crossbar networks for a parallel computing application.KeywordsInterconnection networksCrossbarCost-effectiveFault-tolerantCost
