Abstract

A class of high-energy elastic ~mplitudes associated with noh-dec;~asing total c~oss section is constructed with three basic assumptions, It is shown. that several models proposed thus · far are all special cases of this class. Quantitative constraints are obtained concerning the rate of shrinking of the diffraction peak and the rate of rising of the total cross sections. The analyticity of the amplitude in the complex l-plane is also studied.
