Abstract

The aim of this paper is the analysis of Augustus’ interventions in the temporal and spatial dimensions of ancient Rome, in order to obtain an ideological legitimation of his political power, in particular through the introduction of new feriae in the calendar connected to his life and his rule, the construction of the Horologium Augusti and the reform of some of the main archaic festivities, such as the ludi Saeculares and the Compitalia.
