Abstract

Carbonylation under mild conditions of the catalytic solutions used for butadiene oligomerization gives two new coordination compounds of zero-valent iron, viz. dibutadienecabonyliron, (C 4H 6) 2FeCO, and butadienecyclooctatetraenecarbonyliron, (C 4H 6(C 8H 8)FeCO. They are fairly stable crystalline solids, and exhibit a small catalytic activity in the dimerization of butadiene.
