OLEG EFREMOV, STAGE DIRECTOR OPENING A BRAND-NEW PERIOD IN THE STORY OF THE SOVREMENNIK THEATER

Abstract

The paper considered the winning chemistry in Oleg Yefremov’s life laid, above all, behind his personality that an incredible charm of an actor and a human singled out. That charm tinged either the public actions that Yefremov held as a founder and leader of the Theater. Oleg Yefremov did not have any trait of character that would have alienated him from other people. On the contrary, he was «one of the lads», an intimate fellow accessible for communication, an expansive nature, a companionable individual. His exceptionally male features of the leader and «live wire» commanded respect, and other people have unconditionally accepted that as their due. He was a man of gambling, a man of ardor persistent in his tactics. He did not behave like an authoritarian personality not only to inspire respect but either to arouse dread. He was a bright democratic leader. That is why the young "Sovremennik" settled everything in brainstorming, at meetings of the troupe, and both creative and personal issues were to submit there. Efremov never worried about losing authority. Like a fearless and self-reliant person, an expansive nature, he enjoyed a convival and friendly interaction.
