Abstract
The current environment in academic medical centers presents radiology faculty with substantial challenges to their academic growth and advancement [1-4]. The competing pressures of rising clinical volumes with an emphasis on relative value unit–based compensation models, ever-changing workflow especially because of the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, and decreasing protected academic time can substantially hinder faculty in reaching their full academic potential. To support vulnerable early-career faculty, institutions and organizations have developed robust support systems, including career development programming targeted to early-career faculty, formal mentorship opportunities, and work flexibilities that allow for partial partnerships and “stopping the clock” for promotion and tenure [5-7].
