Abstract

The spin reducing properties of central charges in N-extended supergravity algebras are analysed for off-shell multiplets. The residual symmetries are discussed for the case N = 8. Multiplexing of multiplets is shown to occur in linearised lagrangians for more than one spin-reducing central charge, but not to fit the minimal auxiliary field structure for the linearised N = 8 supergravity theory. A linearised lagrangian with 6 central charges is presented for this latter theory.
