Abstract

With the development of technology and the need for perception of complex surrounding environment information, LIDAR (light detection and ranging) systems have more application scenarios - blind navigation is one of them. However, the current LIDARs on the market generally suffer from near range blind spots of several meters. For the blind, close information perception is very important for their travel safety, and of course long-distance information perception is also necessary. Therefore, we discussed the difference between coaxial and non-coaxial LIDAR systems, and designed a LIDAR system for blind navigation based on an off-axis parabolic receiver, which is capable of a near detection range of less than 30 cm.
