Abstract
Odessa is one of the most humorous regions of Ukraine. Odessits have always been famous for their easy-going life style and wonderful sense of humour in the Russian-speaking world. This laughter phenomenon appeared due to various cultural and historical factors. The structure and sense of Odessa historical anecdote are investigated in this article as a potential source for making deep anthropological, cultural and historical research. Also it include the origin of laughter itself.Initially, paradox and applied purposes of Odessa anecdote are presented and various Russian-speaking and foreign researchers’ definitions are comprised. The difference is signed between the anecdote as a folklore genre and a myth. Genesis of anecdote in Odessa laughter culture has its roots in conditions of its appearance. As a result, it led to multicultural, multiethnic and multilingual urban community. City population has a special way of joking where people like to emphasize the characteristic features of officials and city government, who caught public attention by bad or good actions.Four historical anecdotes are used in this investigation with their cultural and anthropological narratives. The historical circumstances are full of curious fictional details and real facts. It is highly considered the importance of Odessa historical anecdote as a source of additional information about famous persons in history as well as the part of Odessa culture.
