Abstract

Oculomotor Paresis with Cyclic Spasms (OPCS) is a rare disorder characterized by periodic paralysis alternating with spasms of complete or partial ocular muscles innervated by the third nerve.

  • Four patients displayed unilateral ptosis, mydriasis, light response weakened, and the first three patients displayed exotropia in the paretic phase. They presented ipsilateral eyelid elevation, which was comparable to the contralateral lid in patient #1& #4 and over-elevated in #2 & #3, miosis, and the globe wandered to middle position or esotropia

  • The paretic phase of patient #4 lasts approximately 30 minutes. Her symptom was present at the age of 63, that is, 6 years after radiation therapy for suprasellar meningoma
