Abstract

(Pink eye) Infectious keratoconjunctivitis is seen worldwide and in sheep of all ages. It tends to be more severe in ewes than lambs as supported by work done in 1989 by Egwu and others. Up to 25% of a flock are commonly affected in an outbreak. The disease is usually of little economic importance except when heavily pregnant ewes are affected. In this instance, pregnancy toxaemia and agalactia are possible sequelae due to the inability to feed properly through blindness.
