Abstract

Sixty five grapevines in productive areas from southern regions in Poland were tested for the presence of Grapevine Pinot gris virus (GPGV) by RT-PCR. Twenty two percent of the tested plants were infected by GPGV. GPGV positive grapevines were also tested for the presence of other viruses by multiplex and simplex RT-PCR. Part of the movement and coat protein coding regions and a part of RdRp domain were sequenced. Phylogenetic analyses of the 2 genes revealed that south Polish GPGV isolates grouped with already described asymptomatic isolates. This study provides the first survey of the GPGV occurrence in Poland.
