SEVERAL recent studies have established and explored the role of a soy-flour diet in the genesis of "high-uptake" goiter in the rat.1 , 2 Although it is a common practice to resort to the exclusive use of soy preparations for considerable periods in the management of milk allergy, no reports have appeared to date that implicate this nutrient in the production of goiter or hypothyroidism in the human patient.
