Abstract

Objective To understand the nurses' pressure source and mental health status in the oncology department, and to find the psychological adjustment strategy for the medical nurses coping with occupational stress. Methods A total of 139 nurses were investigated by questionnaire survey using the nurses' pressure source scale and the symptom self-rating scale (SCL-90). The results were compared with the norm. Results Pressure score from high to low in turn was: the workload and time allocation problem, patient care, nursing professional and work problems, work environment and resource, management and interpersonal problems.The nurses in the department of oncology medical ward were significantly higher than the norm in the 9 factors of SCL-90 and the number of positive and total scores. Conclusions The work pressure is an important factor affecting the mental health of nurses in the internal medicine ward of oncology.It should guide the nurses' personal characteristics and mental health status to adjust their self-adjustment and relieve stress.
