Abstract
Introduction: Within the scope of an air ambulance service, the air medical crew is faced with unique occupational risks including: noise, vibration, hazardous fumes and the physiological and psychological stresses of flight. Despite this knowledge, however, little high-quality evidence exists about the effects that these factors have on the physical health of the air medical crew. Following a comprehensive search of both MEDLINE and EMBASE, we were unable to identify any studies that evaluated the occupational injuries specifically incurred by air medical healthcare professionals.
