Abstract

In the proposed work, sorbents based on diatomite modified on the basis of natural diatomite mineral of Mugalzhar region were obtained. The article considers three methods of obtaining diatomite based sorbents: 1) pre-crushed diatomite mineral was treated with a solution of hydrochloric acid 0.5 M HCl, mixed in a magnetic stirrer, the resulting suspension was filtered, then rinsed with distilled water to a neutral medium and dried at 100 °C for 5 hours; 2) the first method was completely repeated, only as an additional process, the dried sample of diatomite was calcined in a muffle furnace at 900 °C at normal atmospheric pressure; 3) a third sample of pre-crushed diatomite was calcined in a muffle furnace at 900 °C. As a result, among the three methods the most effective sorbents selected depending on the porosity of the sorbents. That is, in the first method the porosity of the sample is in the range of 0.34-0.97 μm, in the second method the pore size is in the range of 0.29-2.31 μm, and in the third method, and when choosing the third method the pore size is 0.36-0.45 μm. Based on the obtained results, the second method of modification of the sample was set with a wide range of porosity measurements from 0.29 to 2.31 μm at a temperature of 600-900 °C.
