Abstract

Some examples of heterogeneous covariance matrices in infraspecific paleontologic and neontologic material are discussed. A slightly modified form of the generalized statistical distance between two populations is suggested, which may be useful with heterogeneous samples from an interbreeding population, or otherwise on the infraspecific level. The presentation is based on material of ostracods, cephalopods and turtles.
