Abstract

SUMMARYA particle of about 500 A in diameter has been shown to be associated with the peripheral chromatin of chromosomes. This particle thought to be vesicular in nature, has been named « perichromatin vesicle » (PV). These particles change in number during the different phases of the mitotic cycle (Fig. 1), with the maximum number present in early telophase. It is suggested that these perichromatin vesicles may be involved in establishing connections between the chromosomes and the nuclear membrane.
