Abstract
IN 1998, THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR HEALTH STATISTICS (NCHS), in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office on Women’s Health (OWH), began the development of a state level women’s health data resource. In 2000, the DHHS Office on Minority Health (OMH) joined this venture, and the project was expanded and renamed “State Health Statistics by Sex and Race/Ethnicity.” The resource is a data warehouse in which information from many different data systems is presented in one central location for ease of access. The information, which will include many indicators of minority and women’s health, is presented as tables that can be graphed and mapped. It is our intention that this data warehouse will be a very useful tool for obtaining background information on a wide variety of topics.
