Observation on the efficacy of hemstitch sutures combined with application of corneal contact lens for pterygium

Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of hemstitch suture combined with application of corneal contact lens in pterygium excision combined with stem cell transplantation. Methods The data of 1 587 eyes of 1 435 cases of pterygium from Jul. 2014 to Dec. 2016 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. They were treated with hemstitch sutures combined with application of corneal contact lens. Results The interrupted sutures were performed in traditional operation, the opertation time was long, with average of (40.0±3.5) minutes.The stimulus symptoms after operation was severe.The hemstitch sutures combined with application of corneal contact lens shorten the operation time, with average of (15.0±5.0) minutes. The postoperative pain and irritation were relieved. Conclusion Hemstitch suture combined with the application of corneal contact lens is efficient and convenient in pterygium surgery.
