Abstract
We present a study on observation of exchange bias effect in thin film heterostructures of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3(LSMO) and La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO). Superlattice heterostructure of (LSMO/LCMO)x5 was deposited on MgO (00l) single crystal substrate using pulsed laser deposition. The heterostructure show ac-axis oriented growthas confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. The temperature and magnetic field dependent magnetization measurements show a ferromagnetic (FM) behavior typical to both LSMO and LCMO. However, at low temperature (5 K) the field dependent magnetization measurements show an asymmetric behavior confirming the exchange bias. Such magnetic anisotropy is not expected at an interface where both the layers are ferromagnetic. This suggests presence of an interfacial exchange coupling between the two ferromagnetic layers. This can be studied in more details using interface sensitive probes like polarized neutron reflectometry.
