Abstract

The work is about love poems of the leader of Georgian romanticism, Nikoloz Baratashvili. Using the methods of analysis and overview in a compilation, I’m getting close to my main research topic – observing lyrical texts in European countries in the scope of romanticism in the literature and compare to works of Baratashvili. I’m using the method of comparative linguistics to determine the relation between texts from different cultural context and the poems of the Georgian poet. As a conclusion, Baratashvili, as well as European poets, is not interested in eroticism, bodily desires, more so – looking at women in a vulgar manner. The Georgian romanticist is coupled with European romanticism by imagining women as a heavenly creature and by refined aristocratism of the soul.
