Abstract
Human rights of prisoners have been a constant matter of concern for academicians and human right activities because they more or less remain cut-off from media and society at large. Large scale human rights violation has been reported in Indian prisons. This paper critically examines the status of observance of human rights of prisoners in central and district jails of Haryana State. It evaluates the responses of prisoners on 5-point scale and analyse them by using simple statistical tools. This paper reaches some important findings and also suggests measures to improve the observance the human rights in prisons of Haryana state.
