Abstract

In an effort to remedy the problems inherent in the current objective test, we propose a new type of test that allows multiple choice for the correct answer and imposes appropriate penalty for the incorrect choices. To investigate the effect of the proposed method, two examinee groups were employed to take two kinds of examinations each. The one is to evaluate the examinee according to the choice of the answer. The other is to get the examinee's degree of knowledge and understanding for the given test by requiring them to expound the reason for the choice of the answer. By several estimations for comparison of the current and the proposed methods, it has been found that the MCP method proposed in this paper is superior to the current one in every respect examined.
