Abstract

As the pioneer and forerunner of Western Marxism, Lukács’ ideas have had a significant impact on the development of Western Marxism and even Western philosophy. History and Class Consciousness, consisting of eight essays, is the most important work of Lukács’s life. The objectification theory elaborated in the book has important implications for the critique of capitalist ideology and the reconstruction of the consciousness of the proletariat, as well as for contemporary ideological construction.
