Abstract
Various highly sophisticated methods from different scientific disciplines have been applied to bioprocess control and supervision. However it became clear that for an adequate system representation a hybrid coupling of such modules is desirable. For this purpose an advanced communication architecture is required. Software engineering methods can help to identify common structures and operations required for hybrid systems. This paper presents an advanced channel concept for module coupling, that is based on matrix valued time series. It makes extensive use of object oriented technology.
