Abstract
The essence of a content-based retrieval system is to find images that are semantically related to the user's query from a database. Humans are much better than computers at extracting semantic information from images, being able to segment individual objects subconsciously. The availability of a pool of pre-segmented objects found using region analysis allows the human behaviour to be replicated. A semi-automatic tool for a region-based image retrieval system is presented.
