Abstract

Recent years, the electromagnetic (EM) wave carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) has been applied for radar imaging. The dual relationship between the OAM index and the azimuthal angle can be used to reconstruct target's profiles in the azimuthal dimension. In this paper, the OAM-based imaging is studied to reconstruct the three-dimensional information by exploiting the tomographic technique. The wavefront and intensity distributions of the generated OAM beams are analyzed firstly. Subsequently, the imaging model of the proposed imaging scheme is derived. And, the imaging approach is developed to obtain the target's position in range, azimuth and elevation dimensions. Simulation results show good agreement with theoretical analyses. This work can advance the development of three-dimensional imaging technology based on OAM beams.
