Abstract
detection of multiple infections with 3 or more types. Discordant samples included 12 Luminex positive/LA negative results and 36 multiple infections in which the list of types was partially different between the two methods. Four of these samples contained types not detected by the LA probes. Among the samples no sample was completely discordant for HPV typing. The overall distribution of HPV types was similar between the 2 methods, with the exception of HPV 52, which was less frequently detected by the Luminex method (8 vs 18). However, all but one sample in which HPV 52 was detected only by the LA test also contained one or more types that are known to cross react with the LA HPV 52 probe. Conclusion: In conclusion, our Luminex assay, while comparable to the LA test, offers flexibility, lower cost and less hands-on time.
