Abstract

Resumo: O presente artigo visa analisar a manifestação do riso em O Nome da Rosa, filme de Jean-Jacques Annaud baseado na obra homônima de Umberto Eco. O riso durante o medievo sofreu algumas censuras por, supostamente, afastar os homens da presença de Deus. Diante disso, a Igreja Católica utilizou de diversos artifícios para fiscalizar e punir os transgressores. Tal fato histórico, de maneira muito fiel é retratado no filme em questão, o qual será nosso objeto de análise a fim de compreender de que maneira isso foi representado nas telas de cinemas. Abstract: This article aims to analyze the manifestation of laughter in The Name of the Rose, a movie by Jean-Jacques Annaud that was based on the novel by Uberto Eco. During the medieval period, laughter was censored because it kept men away from God's presence. In view of this, the Catholic Church used many devices to control and punish the transgressors. This historical fact, in a very faithful way, is portrayed in the film in question, which will be our object of analysis to understand how this was represented on the movie screens.
