Abstract
O presente artigo jurídico se trata de análise doutrinária, de legislação e jurisprudência sobre a temática do papel do juiz na produção da prova pericial. Os principais conceitos sobre a produção de prova pericial são abordados logo no início, para em seguida, adentrar no estudo dos poderes-deveres dos magistrados, procurando analisar a manutenção do brocardo iudex est peritus peritorum, no âmbito sistêmico e cultural.
