Abstract

Children in period of latency, in psychotherapy, frequently resist when questioned directly on its conflicts and feelings. Many of these children answer well to the squiggle-drawing game, an adaptation of the Winnicott’s squiggle game, associate to the Gardner and Kritzberg´s method of story telling. In the game, child and therapist work through a thematic exchange, in a structuralized and interactive way. Together with other projective and similar playful techniques, the game provides a fruitful way of attainment of significant thematic material. It is also a form to increase the communication between therapist and child.
