Abstract

Title: The egress’s feedback as a source of organizational development: subsidies for implementation of an applied instrument. Source of the: This work approaches egress’s monitoring, one of the weakest topics on the PDI of IF Sudeste MG. Assuming that the egress is a valuable source of information about the institution, we outlined the general objective that guides this research: to develop instruments that make viable the egresses’ feedback as a source for the institution’s development. Procedures/Methods for the solution of the problem: It is a case study with a qualitative approach consisting of the following stages: i) diagnostic, through an initial probe; documental and bibliographical research, as well as empiric observation of the researcher stationed at Juiz de Fora’ s campus, supporting the hypothesis regarding the absence of egresses’ monitoring within the institution; ii) field research, through semistructured interviews with Juiz de Fora campus’s managers, indicating not only the barriers to the accomplishment of egresses’ monitoring but also suggesting actions to be taken; creation and application of a questionnaire to the egresses; practical analysis of the application of this pilot instrument. iii) proposal of the revised instrument with its implementation procedures. Results: Egresses’ monitoring is a prescriptively expected issue and theoretically supported as a promising way to the development of the institution. Therefore, the general objective of this research was met, seeing as it was proposed a revised instrument of data collection together with a suggestion of an application procedure in which the institution can base itself for meeting the demand of egresses. Practical implications: The proposition of the validated and revised instrument, as well as the procedure needed for its implementation. The procedure describes the periodicity of the application, the participants' groups of egresses, the department responsible for sending the instrument, besides other predicted details, so that the institution can instill the culture of frequent assessment, promoting a tight connection with its former students. This practice can compose the basis of a yet non-existent egresses’ monitoring. It should be emphasized that this research is aimed at the federal public administration. Originality and contributions: This proposal is original since it was adapted to the context of IF Sudeste MG campus Juiz de Fora. However, it is possible for this proposal to be spread to other educational contexts. It will foster the institution’s actors a critical rethinking about the potentiality of the information provided by the egresses as an improvement in different levels. Beyond that, this proposal contributes with data update and information about egresses’ path, making it a possible exchange between the institution and labor market, besides reflections upon fulfillment of the institution’s core activity. In this sense, the research is linked to the field of scientific-technological – organizations and society (LACT 1), as it searches for problematizing questions related to organizational effectiveness and to the improvement of management practices. Technical/Technological production: The instrument and the procedure for its implementation are the products generated by this research. It fits in Management Process, belonging to Axis 1 – products and Processes. The instrument is applicable, because it was validated by the institution’s egresses; it is innovative, on the grounds that the proposal goes beyond egresses’ monitoring, as it also considers the opinion of former students for the contribution of the organizational development, and it is also little complex, provided that it uses a free and easy-to-use tool.
